Since 2005, Uli Hoffmeier has been organizing the International Jazz Guitar Workshop in Provence, initially in the monastery of Frigolet (famous for its former student and later Nobel Prize winner in Literature, Fréderick Mistral, as well as the monastery liqueur), then for two years in an old castle above the Ardeche and now in the beautiful hotel “Val Baussenc” in Maussane-les-Alpilles. Well-known jazz guitarists, mostly from the US, such as Bruce Forman, Bucky Pizzarelli, Howard Alden, Anthony Wilson, Mimi Fox, Gene Bertoncini, James Chirillo and Matt Munisteri have been recruited as instructors, with participants from all over the world adding international flair.
