He would have turned 100 in 2024: the legendary Berlin jazz guitarist Coco Schumann, whose fate was known to only a few until his biography “Der Ghetto Swinger” was published in 1997, followed a little later by a documentary about his life in three concentration camps. Reason enough to commemorate him and his fate with concerts organized, directed and moderated by his long-time friend and colleague, saxophonist Karl-Heinz Böhm. In addition to original arrangements of Coco's favorite swing songs, some of his own compositions will also be performed. Kalle Böhm – himself a veteran of the Berlin jazz scene – will also not miss the opportunity to make the concert entertaining and informative with stories and anecdotes from Coco Schumann's life as a musician. He will be supported by Uli Hoffmeier, who has been with Max Raabe's Palastorchester for 28 years and is one of the few 7-string guitarists, as well as the empathetic bassist Robin Draganic from Canada.
